OTBS 205: Minor Prophets
Understanding the Twelve Voices of Judgment and Hope
Course Description
Welcome to OTBS 205! This course surveys the final 12 books of the Old Testament, a collection known collectively as the Minor Prophets or “The Twelve.” While these books are shorter than their “Major Prophet” counterparts, their message is no less powerful or significant. We will journey through the prophetic messages of Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. Set against the backdrop of political turmoil, foreign invasion, and spiritual apathy, these prophets delivered urgent words from God to His people. You will explore the profound themes of God’s unwavering holiness, His righteous justice against sin, His passionate call to repentance, and His faithful, covenant-keeping love that always preserves a remnant and promises future restoration through the Messiah. Get ready to hear the vital and enduring voices of The Twelve.

This course is composed of five chapters, each building upon the last to provide a comprehensive overview of the Minor Prophets. Each chapter includes a detailed summary, five in-depth lessons, a chapter test, and an optional “Deep Dive” for further study. The course culminates in a final course test.
